Meet Lesley Schmidt
She’s part of the fifth-generation on her family farm in Southwest Kansas. She works alongside her family raising crop varieties such as alfalfa, oats, sorghum, soybeans, and wheat, all while managing a cow/calf operation.
Lesley also works in Wichita for a full-service engineering and planning firm where she is a civil computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) technician, as well as a permit writer and cartographer.
In her free time, Lesley enjoys baking, gardening, reading, traveling, and fitness and sports activities like biking, hiking, running, and yoga. She also is involved in Adventurous Babes Society, Challenge Games, USA Track & Field, and Young Professionals of Wichita. During track and field season, she officiates at a variety of schools, community colleges and universities, as well as the Challenge Games.
Lesley joined the CommonGround™ Kansas team in spring 2017. Sharing her farm’s story, whether it be with words, pictures or videos, showcases why she’s is proud of the ongoing improvements, dedication, passion, and concern that go into the food that is put on the dinner table. Agriculture is truly Lesley’s passion.
